HPA STUDENTS perform scuba cleanup at Kawaihae
On Saturday, 2/25/2023, 5 HPA students, Laura Jim, Marc Rice and David Giff spent the morning scuba diving off of the outer breakwater at Kawaihae Harbor (also know as the Kawaihae Surf Park). The team divided into two teams and scoured the bottom for marine debris. They covered the area shown below and were able to retrieve over 30 lbs of debris (bottles, cans, plastic waste and lots of fishing line, sinkers and hooks (estimated 110 yards of fishing line).
