CORAL AND REEF FISH SURVEY 2/24/2022 AT KALOKO-HONOKOHAU HARBOR

As the second semester draws to a close, Capstone Student Phoebe Wyatt needed to get one more coral and reef fish survey to “round out” her projects data collection objectives.  During this time of year it is often very difficult to conduct in water research because of the high surf that is continually pounding the north and west shores of  Hawaii Island.  

We were fortunate to find a “window” between swells and were able to make a dive on Thursday morning at “dog beach” outside of Honokohau Harbor.  Phoebe was able to complete  her coral count and fish survey which was a big releif.
