HPA STUDENTS ASSIST WITH STRETCH PROGRAM SATELLITE TAG ATTACHMENT
Four HPA student volunteers assisted in the attachment of satellite tags on 30 juvenile loggerhead turtles at the Port Of Nagoya Public Aquarium from June 17 to June 20. For the first three days they attached 9 satellite tags and then, on the 4th day, they attached 3 special depth sensing satellite tags for a total of 30 tags. These 30 loggerheads will be transported by ship to the central Pacific ocean and they will be released as close as possible to the location where the other three cohorts were released (see loggerheadstretch.org for further details). For up to date information about the STRETCH project and the locations of the turtles please see our STRETCH BLOG .
Below are some pictures of the tag attachment process that the students were involved in.
