Fishing line recycling is working!!
During our latest visit to 7 of our fishing line recycling tubes we were pleased to see that several of them were filled. They are an important service to the community and the environment. So far, the recycling program, led by Laura Jim, has collected over 4 miles of line… and counting. While there has been some trash in the recycling tubes, people have been pretty good about restricting their deposits to fishing line. While were were down at Kawaihae, there were a dozen fishermen going after halalalu!
