Monk Seals interacting with honu Kukio Golf and Beach Club personnel reported 5 severly injured/dead turtles between March 19, 2021 and March 23, 2021. Laura Jim, Director of the HPA SCUBA program, took 6 middle school students on a recreational dive to Puako on Saturday, October 2, 2021. The weather was great but the water was a little murky. Still, everyone had a very nice dive and we got to see one whitetip reef shark sleeping in a case. …
On Sunday, October 3, 4 students joined Ms Jim on a snorkeling trip to Honokaope Beach area. The students represeented an international group (Spain, Mexico, Germany,Switzerland) and participated in a snorkel skills training session in the HPA Pool on the previous Friday and then spend Sunday morning at the beach enjoying the beautiful Hawaiian weather …
