Anahulu River Sonic Tracking Project

Two examples of turtles with sonic tags picked up by the receivers in the river. Station 1 is near the mouth of the river and station 4 is the farthest up the river. Station 5 was put in after this first data set was recovered so it does not figure in these graphical representations.

Honu 55409 only went by receivers 1 and 2 during the period from 10/26-11/16, 2016. This means that this turtle travels only about 1/2 of the way up the naigable portion of the river. We don't know why this is, but it is important in furthering our understanding of what drives turtles to migrate up the river. As you can see, 55409 tends to spend the nights in the river and the daylight hours out of the river. You can see that from 10/31 to 11/3, this honu did not come into the river at all.
