PADI OPEN WATER

The PADI Open Water Diver Certification Course is an entry level SCUBA certification course comprised of three components.  These are knowledge development, confined water dives (5 dives in the pool) and open water dives (4 dives in the ocean).  From learning about safe diving practices and effects of pressure to gaining scuba diving skills, completion of this course results in a lifetime certification.  At HPA we offer this during fall and, depending on demand, spring sports term.  Additional recreational dives are offered after certification.

PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER

This course can be taken after completing PADI Open Water Diver certification.  The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course helps build confidence and expands scuba skills through different adventure dives.  There are two required dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three, for a total of five dives.  Other dive options include underwater naturalist, digital underwater imaging, and fish identification. At  HPA we offer this course during the spring sports term.  Additional recreational dives are offered after certification.

RECREATIONAL DIVING

Our intention at the HPA Scuba Program is to develop competent, safe and enthusiastic divers who serve as advocates for the marine realm.  The best way to develop these skills and passions is through experience.  Certified students are able to participate in a Recreational Diving Spring Sport.  We also will be offering weekend dive opportunities for certified divers through the HPA’s Outdoor Program. In addition, we promote service opportunities helping our oceans such as forest planting events and marine debris coastal cleanups.
